The commemorative medal is dedicated to one of the largest institutions of higher education in Ukraine and Europe, founded in 1898. The National Technical University of Ukraine plays a significant role in training highly qualified engineering and scientific personnel and 
has been among the top three educational institutions in Ukraine for many years.
