Forward transactions for individuals
Forward is a currency transaction that fixes client’s obligation to sell foreign currency in a certain time and on certain conditions in the future at a fixed rate. Such transactions are carried out to hedge the risks of changes in the exchange rate of one currency to another.
Advantages of forward contracts:
- Possibility to profit from exchange rate differences
If the client’s forecast regarding the exchange rate change comes true, he fixes a favourable rate in advance and earns on the difference between the forward and current rates on the settlement date.
- Flexibility in currency planning
Forward allows optimizing currency flows, plan expenses and income in the currency needed, using expected exchange rate fluctuations in your favour.
- No need to actually buy/sell the currency immediately
This allows earning on the forecast of exchange rate movements without diverting liquidity - the client does not spend money until the transaction is completed.
The possibility of conducting forward transactions is regulated by the current restrictions set by Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine No. 18 dated 24 February 24 2022 On the Operation of the Banking System During the Period of Martial Law.
