How BankID functions?

BankID ensures secure electronic identification of the user by verifying their identity with the bank. The identification process is carried out by redirecting the user to the page of the selected bank for further authorisation and confirmation of data transmission. After successful authorisation, the bank discloses the user’s identification data to the service provider with the user’s prior consent but only those data, which are absolutely necessary for ordering a specific service.

Types of data disclosed by the Bank?

When the client initiates the identification via the NBU’s BankID, the bank may share the following data with the service provider:

  • given name, patronymic, surname, sex;
  • passport series and number, issuing authority and date of issue;
  • registered place of residence and/or actual place of residence;
  • place and date of birth;
  • contact phone;
  • email;
  • identification number.

The exhaustive list of data to be disclosed to the service provider is determined by the latter themselves on a case-by-case basis.

BankID is highly secure. All data transmissions are completely protected.

Why use BankID?

  • No need for re-entering your personal data, as they are already in the bank database.
  • All data transmissions are completed in compliance with the NBU’s requirements and data security standards
  • No need for obtaining your electronic signature for the majority of services
  • Reducing the risk of errors during data entry

Possible risks associated with using the BankID service

Since the operation of the service is based on authorisation via Pivdenny Online Mobile App, access to the client’s account, possession of a mobile device or theft of a mobile number (SIM card) by third parties may allow fraudsters to use the service (pass authorisation procedure) on service websites, which, in turn, can lead to the disclosure of the client’s personal data and/or to financial losses/scam (e.g. illegal lending by microfinance institutions etc.)

How to prevent this:

  • do not give anyone your login, password, and confirmation codes;
  • use smartphone security systems (PIN/Face ID/Touch ID);

immediately contact your bank in the event of loss of a smartphone or SIM card.
