The coin was minted to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Oleksandr Petrovych Dovzhenko, whose name has become part of Ukrainian and world history as the name of the founder of the Ukrainian national school of cinematography, a genius film-maker, an original writer and artist, whose movie `Earth` is considered one of the best 12 films in the world.
