ISO 20022 Becomes Mandatory for Banks Using SWIFT

20.11.2025

The international financial community is transitioning to a new data exchange standard.

Starting from November 22, 2025, the ISO 20022 CBPR+ standard will become mandatory for all banks conducting transfers via the SWIFT network. This marks one of the most significant steps in the modernization of global payment systems.

The new standard introduces enhanced and more structured formats for financial messages. These contain more detailed information, including full sender and recipient addresses, as well as a structured payment purpose.

The implementation of ISO 20022 CBPR+ will contribute to:
- faster payment processing;
- fewer regulatory audits;
- improved transparency for clients, who will receive more precise information about payment status, reasons for rejections, and fees.

Pivdenny Bank is currently completing the transition to ISO 20022 CBPR+.

Bank clients will receive additional notifications regarding changes to the creation of international transfers through remote banking systems.
