Compliance as a Key to Organisational Security: Workshop at Academic Hub Pivdenny-Банк Пивденный

The spring semester of the course "Managerial Thinking: Modern Approaches and Practices" for economics students at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv continues. The fourth workshop took place on 7 May and focused on compliance. Volodymyr Havlytskyi, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Pivdenny Bank, shared his experience with students.

During the session, the speaker and students explored the topic of compliance with legislation and internal policies, and discussed tools for preventing violations — including anti-fraud measures, conflict of interest management, gift acceptance rules, and whistleblowing mechanisms. Drawing on examples from international and Ukrainian companies, students examined how compliance functions and why non-compliance can be costly.

"Despite a long air raid alert in Kyiv and public transport issues, many students attended and were truly engaged — asking questions from the first slides and actively participating in the discussion. They were interested in both general aspects and specific banking examples. For me, this demonstrates a genuine desire to learn despite the circumstances — and that is very inspiring," shared Volodymyr Havlytskyi.

After the workshop, students were assigned homework by the bank’s expert. They will have the opportunity to review and discuss their findings during the next seminar and strengthen their understanding of compliance.

Academic Hub Pivdenny is a flagship corporate social responsibility project of Pivdenny Bank. Its mission is to support public higher economic education, offer students real business insights, and create conditions that encourage young professionals to stay and work in Ukraine.
