The autumn semester at Academic Hub Pivdenny began with the topic “Asset valuation and self-management: what do they have in common?”

In the world of money and business, asset valuation is not only numbers or formulas, but a goal and a way of thinking about business capitalisation, resources and projects. At the first workshop of the autumn semester at Academic Hub Pivdenny, students of the Faculty of Economics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, together with Vitalii Hahauz, Director of the Valuation and Collateral Operations Department of Pivdenny Bank, examined two main areas – business and personal capitalisation.
Students were able to look at their career path and material well-being through the prism of business values and personal resources – and vice versa.
“At the intersection of disciplines – and modern innovations take place at the intersection of different sciences – using the language of money and examples of self-management, one can clearly explain the basics of asset valuation, investment, business capitalisation and development. This is what I shared with the students during our workshop. Such an approach helps to understand how business works and what it consists of,” said Vitalii.
After the workshop, students traditionally received homework, which they will be able to review a week later at a practical seminar. This will help to consolidate the topic and knowledge, work on mistakes and additionally communicate with the Bank’s experts.
“Each meeting with students feels like the first time. The main expectation was that students would find it both interesting and useful. I liked the engagement of young people – they are bold, able to ask questions, comment a lot, respond and engage in discussion,” Vitalii added.
Academic Hub Pivdenny is the Bank’s key corporate social responsibility project. Its mission is to support the development of state higher economic education, to show how real business works, and to create conditions for students to stay and work in Ukraine. Since 2024, the course “Managerial Thinking: Modern Approaches and Practices”, developed by the Bank’s executives, has become a credit course at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
