Children’s Card: Financial Literacy Lessons from Pivdenny Bank

The International Day for the Protection of Children is a great occasion to introduce your child to the basics of financial literacy and replace pocket money with a children’s card from Pivdenny Bank.

The children’s card is an additional card for children from 6 to 18 years old. It is opened in the child’s name and linked to the card account of one of the parents.

The currency of the additional card corresponds to the currency of the account of the parent, who is the principal cardholder, while the card class corresponds to that of the main card or one class below the premium package, inclusive of WorldElite cards. In addition, the children’s card allows parents to protect their child’s pocket money and their child, as well as to provide children with regular financial support during and after school.

Like any card from Pivdenny Bank, the children’s card can be added to the electronic wallet with the help of Apple Pay or Google Pay, which will enable one-touch purchases using a mobile phone or smart watch.

To issue the additional card in the name of the child, the parent, as the holder of the principal card, needs to present an original passport, ID code statement plus the documents confirming his/her status as the parental guardian (if applicable). The child in whose name the additional card is issued should present a birth certificate, and teenagers from 14 to 18 years old should additionally present an ID card (passport of a minor child), and statement with the identification code.

You can apply for the card on the Pivdenny Bank website and the card can then be issued to you at the nearest bank branch (with or without the child present).

Cards for children have the same functions as standard payment cards. This type of card is opened for a 5-year period in any currency (UAH/USD/EUR).

An individual limit can be set on any children’s card from Pivdenny Bank. Furthermore, parents will have access to all information concerning any expenses or purchases made by the child using the Pivdenny MyBank mobile app or Mobi-Card service. If necessary, the card can be blocked at any time.
