Investment banking offers more benefits than traditional, both to borrowers and investors. This was stated by Yuriy Voevoda, Director of the Investment Business Department of Pivdennyi Joint-Stock Bank, during a speech at the annual Forum of Financial Directors of Ukraine.

According to him, the key areas of investment banking in the world are the equity and debt capital market, consulting services for M&A, trading and brokerage, as well as financial analysis and research.

In the investment banking market of Ukraine, the key areas are similar to the world, but instead of a full-fledged equity and debt capital market, they include asset management: direct and venture capital (Private Equity) and debt capital from investment funds (Private Debt) and international financial institutions.

"If you compare classic and investment banking, the benefits for both the borrower and the investor in the latter will be more tangible. For the borrower, the value lies in the fact that investment banking allows you to finance complex projects, such as project financing, development of new business lines, M&A operations. In addition, IS is an alternative to private loans. The advantage for the investor is a high return on controlled risks (6-10% in USD). It is also very important that the investor has the opportunity to choose the project, taking into account the industry and geography, "- said Yuri Voevoda.
