Educational Course by Pivdenny Bank Becomes a Credit-Bearing Subject at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

The certification course "Managerial Thinking: Modern Approaches and Practices," developed by Pivdenny Bank as part of its Academic Hub Pivdenny educational initiative, has officially become a credit-bearing subject at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Launched in 2023, Academic Hub Pivdenny is a key corporate social responsibility project of the bank. Its mission is to support the development of public higher economic education, help train professionals for the Ukrainian business sector, and create adaptive and practical educational programmes.
To enhance students' theoretical knowledge with real-world cases, bank executives combined their own experience with the university’s academic curriculum to develop the "Managerial Thinking: Modern Approaches and Practices" course. The course spans two semesters, with the first module covering key aspects of modern business operations and the second module focusing on business project analysis and evaluation.
"Academic Hub Pivdenny is the first project of its kind in the history of Ukrainian economic education to be fully integrated into a university curriculum. We strongly believe that by investing in education, businesses help young Ukrainians build successful futures in their own country,” — said Vitalii Hahauz, project leader and Director of the Valuation and Collateral Operations Department at Pivdenny Bank.
The course combines theory and practice, with almost half of the study time dedicated to practical tasks that students complete alongside lecturers.
Over the past year, the Academic Hub initiative has held 12 workshops, attended by nearly 1,000 students from six different disciplines. Each workshop attracted between 60 and 220 participants.
Additionally, the project includes support for top-performing students: at the end of each semester, the best students receive scholarships of UAH 3,000 per month, paid throughout the following semester. Selection criteria include active participation, attendance, and completion of assignments. In the first semester, 13 students were awarded scholarships, and in the second semester, the number increased to 24.
The second academic year of the course commenced in March, with an expanded programme. The curriculum now includes seminars following each workshop and panel discussions featuring international financial companies. Furthermore, Pivdenny Bank plans to launch advanced courses for students who already possess solid knowledge in relevant subjects and seek hands-on, practical experience.
