Pozhmashyna invests over $1.3 million in its own power generation with the support of Pivdenny Bank.

One of the leading Ukrainian manufacturers of fire-fighting, emergency rescue, and specialised equipment – Pozhmashyna – is implementing a project to build its own power generation system with the support of Pivdenny Bank. The total investment volume exceeds $1.3 million.
The project involves the installation of a 1.5 MW rooftop solar power plant and a 2.6 MW energy storage system, which allows the stored electricity to be used during power outages or peak consumption hours. This solution should provide the enterprise with not only significant electricity cost savings but also uninterrupted production, even during power outages.
Financing is provided under the "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%" state program. During the project preparation stage, Pivdenny Bank proposed potential financing models, recommended equipment suppliers, and, together with the enterprise, built a financial model and calculated the projected return on investment. In addition, the bank supported the client at all stages of the approval and financing of the import contract.
For Pozhmashyna, which has been manufacturing fire-fighting equipment since 1927 and has energy-intensive production, the key factors for the investment were the continuity of technological processes, the possibility of autonomous operation during blackouts, and the reduction of electricity costs.
According to forecast calculations, after the facility is commissioned, the enterprise will be able to reduce electricity costs by more than 60%, and the expected payback period for the "solar power plant and energy storage system" complex will be up to five years.
The project is currently at the implementation stage, so it is too early to assess the actual economic effect. At the same time, it already demonstrates an approach that is increasingly being chosen by Ukrainian businesses: investing in their own power generation not only for the sake of savings but also to ensure stable production operations and reduce dependence on the external power grid.
